"Fritz Haberkorn, Painting Of Our Lady Of Clarity In Perros Guirec (côtes d'Armor) Brittany"
Beautiful and very interesting painting representing a view of the interior porch of the chapel of Notre Dame de la Clarté in Pérros-Guirec in the Côtes d'Armor in Brittany. This magnificent porch is surmounted by three polychrome wooden statues dating from the 17th century. On the left, the education of the Virgin by Saint Anne. In the center, the Virgin and Child. On the right, Saint Peter. This chapel was built in the 15th century, legend has it that a certain Pierre de Tournemine, Lord of Barac'H, whose ship was in danger, caught in the fog near the seven islands, made a vow to build a chapel to Our Lady, at the very place on the coast which would be the first to emerge from this thick fog. This painting was painted by Fritz Haberkorn born in 1898 and died in 1969. This oil on canvas bears the artist's signature at the bottom left and the annotation "Notre Dame de la Clarté" at the bottom right. This painting includes old repairs as well as relining in several parts, see photos. Our painting is sold without a frame.
