"18th-century Walnut Wardrobe, Dated 1785, With A Gendarme's Hat Cornice, Southwest, Pyrenees"
An exceptional 18th-century Louis XV style solid walnut wardrobe. It rests on four small cabriole feet ending in scrolls and connected by deeply shaped and carved lower stretchers. The front opens with two doors, each composed of three molded panels with undulating contours. Two drawers in the lower section, opened by two wrought-iron handles, complete this harmonious facade. The upper rail is arched and decorated with animal motifs, typical of certain wardrobes from the Pyrenees influenced by the Moorish style of Spain. The interior of this piece is fitted with four sturdy shelves. Our wardrobe displays magnificent work in relief and in the round, crafted by a master cabinetmaker who, through this technique, sought to capture the maximum light to highlight the beauty of the wood and the piece. The whole is topped with a thick cornice dated "1785" in its center (see photo). Dimensions: Shipping costs, please contact us
