Painted Wooden Bookcase, Side Table, Bedside Table, End Table, Louis XVI Style

A charming and highly original small Louis XVI style side table, crafted from cream-yellow lacquered wood with light ochre highlights. This delightful little piece can serve various purposes: bedside table, display cabinet, end table, etc. A unique piece, it likely originated from a special commission in the mid-20th century. It rests on four tapered, fluted, and reeded legs. The apron is straight and molded on all sides, allowing it to be placed in the center of a room. The lower section forms a large, almost square top, surmounted by a niche topped with a second, shallower shelf. The piece shows signs of wear to the paint, chips, and some minor imperfections due to use (see photos). This piece can, of course, be used in its original condition, with its flaws, to create a shabby chic look, or repainted to suit individual taste.
