Louis Peyrat (1911–1999)  : French painter born on November 30, 1911, in La Gorceix, Saint-Germain-les-Belles, near Limoges (87).
He completed an apprenticeship in carpentry; at the same time, he studied by correspondence at the École Universelle. After passing its entrance exam, he worked at an architectural firm in Limoges.
In his spare time, he attended the School of Decorative Arts in Limoges; then, beginning in 1934, he devoted himself to painting.
In 1948, he exhibited at the Magadoux Gallery in Limoges, then in Royan and at numerous other galleries.
Beginning in 1958, he painted views of Paris—particularly of Montmartre—which brought him success.
He gained admission to the highly renowned Cercle Volney and to Parisian galleries such as the Roussard Gallery.
His paintings were exhibited alongside those of Degas, Derain, Domergue, Buffet, Braque, Picasso, Foujita, Utrillo, Laurencin, and others... until 1969, the year in which he stopped painting due to complications resulting from a traffic accident he had suffered a few years earlier (1963).
His success allowed him to live comfortably until his death on March 13, 1999, in Martoulet, Saint-Germain-Les-Belles (87).
