Louis XV Chest Of Drawers, Languedoc Region, 18th Century, Solid Cherry And Oak, Castres Area

A beautiful Louis XV chest of drawers made of solid cherry and oak, from Castres in the Tarn.
It rests on two front legs with “snail-shaped” scrolls and two straight-sided rear legs; please note that these four legs have undergone historical repairs—see photos.
Our chest of drawers features three large drawers arranged in three rows on the front; each drawer has two bronze pull handles and a bronze lock plate—all of which are entirely original.
The sides are decorated with three raised panels; this type of construction is distinctive and was used primarily by cabinetmakers in the city of Castres.
The piece is topped with a solid cherry wood top featuring subtle molding around its entire perimeter.
The interior of each drawer has been fully lined with a beautiful patterned fabric on a yellow background.
A high-quality and very sturdy piece of furniture.
