Beautiful elegant 18th century chest of drawers or commode in oak with bronze handles. Hand made and hand sculpted in Louis XV style. This cabinet features three spacious drawers. The original bronze hardware with rosettes and drop handles and escutcheons adorn the fronts off each drawer. On each drawer there are three moulded panels with indented symmetrical moldings. Raised on cabriole feet and with a lovely shaped and beveled top. Sides are paneled.

Because this piece of furniture is richly decorated with rocailles, flowers, foliage and C-shaped ornaments, an architectural motif, the woodcarver and carpenter had to work closely together. A commode such as this would have been commissioned by only the finest cabinetmaker due to the precision required to line up the raised and indented ridges of the traverse rails with the drawers. A very rare find. We had this piece professionally restored.
