L. Dubois In Limoges After Corot: "a Morning, The Dance Of The Nymphs" Mythological Scene
Artist: L. Dubois Limoges ( D'après Corot )
Beautiful painting by L. Dubois after a painting by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot (1796 - 1875) entitled "A morning, the dance of the nymphs", representing a mythological scene, nymphs dancing in a clearing (this painting is currently kept at the Musée d'Orsay and acquired by the French state around the 1850s). The painting that we offer you is signed lower right by L. Dubois and monogrammed MOF for Meilleur Ouvrier de France. L. Dubois was also a painter and decorator on porcelain and Master enameler. He received the medal of the best worker in France in his category for the excellence of his work. Our oil on canvas is sold in a frame decorated with gilded stucco moldings. We sell other paintings or porcelain by this artist in our gallery, such as the large painting representing the Corot site near Saint Junien in Limousin. This site was named in homage to Camille Corot, who was greatly inspired by this place in the 1950s. (see photo 12). Note two old repairs indicated by arrows, see photos 10 and 11.
