"The Resurrection Of Christ After Van Loo, Oil On Canvas, Giltwood Frame From The Louis XIV Period"
French School, 19th century, The Resurrection of Christ, after the original work by Anibale Carracci in 1593 and the reworking by Carle van Loo in 1734-38. The triumphant Christ emerges from his tomb, opened by an angel. The armored Roman soldiers are overcome by torpor. Painted in the same direction as the original, the painting is executed in an almost nocturnal blue-gray tone, as the biblical text dictates. Christ stands out from the painting thanks to his pink drapery. Our oil on canvas painting is presented in a very fine Louis XIV Regency period frame from the early 18th century, made of carved wood and gilded with gold leaf. A beautiful painting, a devotional object with a spectacular composition, in a very fine antique frame. Frame dimensions: 58 x 50 cm. Canvas dimensions: 44 x 35cm
