19th-century Chinese Porcelain (canton) And Gilded Bronze Chandelier
A rare and spectacular Chinese porcelain chandelier from Canton, decorated with scenes of the palace featuring numerous picturesque figures, framed by Greek friezes accented with fine gold; the borders are adorned with foliage, flowers, and multicolored butterflies, and it is set in a gilded bronze frame. It consists of a large 19th-century punch bowl that was mounted during the reign of Napoleon III in a rich, chiseled bronze Rocaille-style frame to create an original six-light chandelier. Late 19th century, circa 1870–1880.
Our chandelier offers a rare opportunity to complement the grand decor of a château, such as a china cabinet where an Imari porcelain collection might be displayed.
It is in excellent condition.
