A beautiful miniature depicting a seated griffin, finely chiseled in bronze and gilded, dating from the early 19th century, set against a trompe-l’œil porphyry in a trompe-l’oeil Swedish green, set within a gilded wooden frame of rectangular shape with an oval opening adorned with palmette motifs.

A beautiful, refined object typical of souvenirs from the Grand Tour, an aristocratic educational journey through Europe undertaken by young men from the highest classes of European society from the 17th to the 19th century. Ideal for complementing a 19th-century neoclassical decor interior with one of those small details that create an authentic atmosphere.

Our piece stands out from common examples due to the quality of the carving but above all the large dimensions of the entire piece, resembling a small painting 2 to 3 times larger than a standard miniature.
