Baccarat, Cut Crystal Wine Decanter, Malmaison Model With A Solid Silver Minerve Base

Wine decanter in Baccarat crystal, Malmaison model in cut crystal with wide, flat facets. A luxury piece featuring a solid silver neck (Minerva hallmark). Early 20th century, circa 1900–1920.

The Malmaison pattern, with its wide, flat faceted sides, is a great classic of Baccarat. In 1921, a special catalog was published featuring all the models in this service: nearly every Baccarat shape was produced with this design. (Shape 1537 on the catalog excerpt attached to the photos) This is the case with our carafe, which features the elongated shape of the Epron service and a superb pinecone stopper.

Our decanter bears no Baccarat signature (it was produced prior to 1936, when the crystal manufacturer began applying its acid-etched stamp to its products).


It is in very good condition. Crystal-clear glass, no or very little residue at the bottom.
