A PAIR OF BRIGADIER GENERAL'S SHOULDER BOARDS, according to the regulations of 1 Vendémiaire Year XII (September 24, 1803), First Empire. 31133. Embroidered with twisted cords and gold sequins. The body is embroidered with a design depicting a V-shaped braid with batons, edged with a scalloped border on dark blue, almost black, wool cloth; its escutcheon is decorated with a shield embroidered with gadroons and adorned with two stars of sewn silver thread, bullion, and sequins, Ø 2.1 cm. The border of this escutcheon is composed of two large twisted cords: one large one of matte and shiny thread, rolled alternately, and the other similarly but of a slightly smaller diameter. The fringes are joined in two rows of large twisted cords known as "spinach seeds" and towards the inside by a row of soft fringes. Cardboard body lined with dark blue, almost black, cloth. Body length without shield: 7 cm. Body length with shield: 11.5 cm. Body length with the two turntables: 12.5 cm. Body width: 7 cm. Width of shield and three turntables: 10 cm. Total height: 6.5 cm.
