Thüringisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 153, Model 1871, Second Reich. 19545 Spiked helmet of a non-commissioned officer promoted to officer. Relatively high and rounded bomb of the 1871 model, in patent leather, visor rim bead and all metal fittings in gilded brass, state plate in gilded stamped brass representing the crowned Prussian eagle with outstretched wings, initials on its chest "FR" and banner "MIT GOTT FÜR FÜRST UND VATERLAND" (with God for the Prince and the Fatherland) holding in its talons the symbols of power, scepter and globe, brocaded with the state plate representing in an oval the coat of arms of the House of Saxony burled, with crancelin, brocading in a band on the whole crowned and encircled by two branches of laurel leaves, on a background of a radiant sun. Metal cockades of the officer type in the national colors black-white-red and of the state of Saxony-Thüringen green-white-green. Brown leather chinstraps covered with scalloped scales alternating two and three brass scallops, upper scales of each chinstrap covered with a mobile rosette in gilded brass, independent of the chinstrap. Bomb topped with a point that unscrews with a beaded throat, pierced with two holes for the ventilation of the headdress, on a round base held by four star-shaped rivets. Interior of headdress in blackened leather with 16 wolf teeth, each perforated with two small holes for the passage of a tightening lace. Very good condition of preservation. Germany. Second Reich. Out of 218 Infantry Regiments, only 2 Regiments have this surcharge plate.
