Persian Rug From Tabriz, Circa 1970. 385x290 Cm
Tabriz-Marand rug, 50th Raj, circa 1970, signed by the weaver "Iradji." Marand is located in northwestern Iran, in the province of Azerbaijan.
Marand rugs are so similar to Tabriz rugs that they are now marketed as Tabriz rugs. Marand is one of the major cities in the province of East Azerbaijan and the center of the city of Marand. This city is located 65 km northwest of Tabriz.
The wool used in the making of these rugs is very fine and of high quality, allowing for greater precision in the details. Even the simplest rugs have a knot density of approximately 400,000 knots per square meter, which is much higher than most other Persian rugs. The precision of the details in these rugs is impressive. The quality of Tarbiz-Marand rugs has a precise designation, "Raj," which corresponds to the number of knots in a 7 cm area. The higher the Raj number, the higher the quality and knot density of the rug.
Woven in the 1970s, this rug, with its Caucasian design called "Shirvan," features unique colors set with jewel-like geometric patterns. It stands on a cream background with emerald green and sky blue hues. An attractive design with a warm and striking border.
Size : 385 x 290 cm
Condition : Good overall condition, with two small white marks in the center of the rug (visible in the photos), and the beige borders have yellowed slightly with age.
