Kirman Laver Persian Rug 220x130 Cm
Antique Persian Carpet – Kirman Laver (Raver). Circa 1880.
A superb Kirman Laver carpet from the late 19th century, adorned with a remarkable Tree of Life design.
Made of lamb's wool pile known as "kork," renowned for its fineness and exceptional quality, on a cotton foundation. The deep blue field features an elegant, symmetrical Tree of Life, populated by hanging birds framing a central floral arrangement. The double ruby spandrels, richly decorated with polychrome floral scrolls, enhance the depth and balance of the composition. The whole evokes a veritable earthly paradise: flowering trees of life, deer, birds, and stylized parrots unfold in refined polychromy.
Exquisitely crafted and boasting a beautiful color palette, this rug resembles a work of art and, like silk rugs, deserves to be displayed on the wall like a painting.
Size : 220 × 130 cm
Condition : General wear consistent with age. There are areas of more pronounced wear over approximately 50 cm in the upper part of the rug, up to the level of the first central bird, where the pile is missing, resulting in a slight fading of the color.
This difference remains very subtle when considering the rug as a whole.
The rest of the rug features a low-pile wool that is soft to the touch. The fringes have been shortened.
