Tabriz Rug, 139 X 186 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool, Iran, Qajar, Late 19th Century, Good Condition

Antique Tabriz hand-knotted wool rug from Iran.
It measures 139 cm wide x 186 cm long.
A piece from the second half of the 19th century, in good condition for a collector of these antique pieces.
A beautiful rug in used condition, with slight wear throughout.
This rug is clean, the wool is soft and fine, admirably knotted and tightly.
It reveals contrasting hues, a central floral mandorla surrounded by ivory and pale blue flowers.
A large scattering of flowers is punctuated by peonies and richly worked borders on a midnight blue background.
A band of carnations finishes the rug along the border.
The soft and harmonious shades highlight this intricate floral design.
Blue, chamois, ivory, and peach colors adorn this rug with great delicacy.
A great example of Persian art, inspired by the miniatures (forms and colors) of the Tabriz school, then the capital of the empire. Persia.
Tabriz (Azerbaijani: Təbriz/ تبریز, formerly Tauris), is the capital of East Azerbaijan Province, in northwestern Iran (Iranian Azerbaijan). It is located on the banks of the Talkheh River (also called the Aji-Chāi), near Lake Urmia, close to the borders of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Tabriz is the gateway to Persia from the north to the west, and Tabriz carpets hold immense importance in the quality of Persian carpets and enjoy a wonderful international reputation.
Tabriz carpets are among the most prized in the world; their craftsmanship is always very fine and durable.
This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
