Woven and embroidered in wool, this rug measures 95cm wide by 203cm long.
It is a remarkable work of the Berber women of this region.
Exclusively made by women on vertical double beam looms,
these rugs are still dyed largely with vegetable dyes;
madder (taroubia) for red, black with crushed pomegranate leaves with turnips, figs and henna, and white wool obtained by suffrage on the naturally unbleached skeins.
These women use the Berber knot and always the dominant color is red.
The designs are in white and black on a red background, traditional colors specific to this region with spots of orange, yellow and green.
Our model is in very good condition, and dates from the 1950s (1950).
The last photo shows the reverse of the carpet, which is similar to the reverse of the soumaks of the Caucasus, the wool hairs not being cut.
This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
