"Large Polychrome Art Nouveau Bas-relief 1900 - Two Women During The Return Of The Fishermen"
Large and exceptional polychrome bas-relief in Art-Nouveau style dating from around 1900 and representing two young women anxiously awaiting the return of the fishermen... The bas-relief is numbered 1254 / 6 and is signed on the side with a monogram "CP" with the mention "reproduction reserve": in terms of the material, it has the appearance of ceramic but it is more certainly stucco, that is to say marble powder mixed with plaster, which gives it a greater hardness and density... note: note that its style is typically Art-Nouveau and recalls that of the Austrian Jugenstil which spread in Europe at the end of the 19th century and until the 1920s-1930s. it actually precedes the Art-Deco style which took up substantially the same decorative codes: in France, it was the Czech artist Friedrich Goldscheider (1845-1897) who popularized this style because he owned a factory in Austria which produced porcelain, bronzes, plasters and polychrome terracottas. This will contribute to making the Vienna school and the art of Austrian decorative sculpture more generally known... - apart from the question of attribution, we will notice the beauty and sensuality which emanate from the young women whose anxiety which then seized the wives of sailors during fishing campaigns can be felt - - old repair on the base, without consequence on the quality of the work / see last photo - Size: 82 cm x 51 cm - approximately 7 kg - will be shipped in a large secure packaging, made of foam, bubble wrap, polystyrene and cardboard / ask me for other photos if necessary -
