Small devotional sculpture in carved and polychrome wood representing the seated Christ, crowned with thorns, holding the reed, in the meditative attitude known as the “Christ of Patience” (Cristo de la paciencia).
Description
The body marked by the stigmata of flagellation is rendered with intensity, the slightly inclined head supporting the cheek, symbol of his suffering and resignation. The original polychromy, although partially worn, remains with its expressive accents of blood, typical of Spanish and southern Italian Baroque sculpture.
Dimensions:
Height 20 cm
Condition
Visible wear, losses and small old restorations. This intimate representation, of small format, was intended for private piety, in a domestic oratory or a chapel.
