"Budai Porcelain From China. Monochrome White. Qing Dynasty."
This very friendly little Budai is slumped on his big bag. His good, jovial and benevolent smile lights up his radiant face, his eyes sparkle with mischief and happiness. In Asia, he is the symbol of abundance and generosity. The statuette is made in a mold in 2 parts assembled with slip. The details are taken up with a chisel, the irises and the tongue are modeled and reported. The artist knew how to give beautiful expressions full of life to his small statuette. The lack of mannerism, in particular the very simple feet, makes us think that this is a creation from the beginning of the Qing dynasty around 1800. Good general condition, missing phalanges on the right hand. Under the base two firing cracks. Everything is visible in photos. No repairs, no cracks. Height: 109mm Width: 124mm
