The dignitary is depicted seated on his throne, which is partially covered by a tiger skin. The sculpture is carved from a single piece of wood, lacquered and gilded with 24-karat gold leaf. The gilding is covered with a light protective layer of lacquer, giving the gold an orange hue. The dignitary holds the "Hu" tablet, the symbol of his office. The hand is largely broken. The throne is also carved from a single piece of wood, but simply painted. Chinese work from the 17th century (Fujian or Guangdong). The whiskers, originally made of hair, are now missing. Total height: 335 mm. Width: 20 cm. Numerous damages and wear, visible in the photos.
