Large Anatomical Model Paper Mache Prof. Dr. Benninghoven
Artist: Prof. Dr. Benninghoven
An exceptional and unique piece from the 19th century: a large anatomical model made of papier-mâché and plaster, hand-painted. Marked with the original label: Prof. Dr. Benninghoven (vormals Dr. Benninghoven & Sommer) Berlin NW 21, Turmstrasse 19. Mounted on a black wooden base, with its original wooden stand. The model represents a human torso with a removable frontal part: inside, we discover various detachable internal organs made of papier-mâché. 8 removable parts in total, all numbered for easy identification.
Condition: Complete and in good vintage condition. A few elements have small damage. Each piece has been photographed. There is a crack inside the torso, probably due to a fall. This caused additional damage to the left lung and intestines.
However, these defects are not visible when all the elements are in place in the body.
Wooden Plaque Dimensions: Height: 75 cm (29.5 inches) Width: 41 cm (16.1 inches) Thickness of body and frame (without base): 21 cm (4.3 inches) If you would like additional pictures, please let me know!
