French Art Deco Bronze Floral Plaque, Süe And Mare Style – Circa 1925

A remarkable hexagonal French plaque made of cast bronze, adorned with a rich floral design in high relief.

The composition features a dense bouquet of highly stylized flowers and leaves. The hexagonal geometric frame and the simplified, voluminous floral forms are characteristic of French Art Deco from the 1920s–1930s.

The design bears clear similarities to the works of Louis Süe and André Mare, as well as those of their artistic circle, notably Georges Béal and the Compagnie des Arts Français. In the absence of a signature or documented provenance, this plaque is cautiously proposed as a work in the style of Süe and Mare.

The reverse, which is irregular and concave, bears the stamped number 12020 as well as several smaller digits, including 90 and a 9 that appears to have been stamped by mistake. This plaque may originally have been a piece of furniture ornamentation, an applied decorative element, or part of a larger object.

The bronze has a beautiful dark brown patina. The plaque is in good, authentic condition, with normal signs of age and wear.
