Antique 19th-century Boin-taburet Perpetual Calendar
Artist: Boin-taburet
This perpetual desk calendar is a masterpiece. Made by the renowned Parisian firm Boin-Taburet between 1880 and 1895, it was produced to order.
The perpetual calendar:
It consists of three large monthly cards adorned with putti or scenes of children on hand-colored lithographs, allowing the corresponding month to be displayed each time. These are placed on the back of the stand. One of the two daily cards can be placed in front. One displays four days, the other three, thus offering a choice of seven days. On the front, the numbers are distributed across sixteen cards. Placed behind a beautiful image, the number appears in the center. The card system is easily changed by sliding the silver frame forward.
Hallmarks:
This perpetual calendar bears several hallmarks. The name Boin-Taburet appears in small print on the front plate, is engraved on the gilt copper base plate, and on the silver frame. This one also bears a silver hallmark.
The whole is mounted on a wooden frame adorned with a gilt copper border featuring a laurel leaf motif. The calendar can be placed on a surface or hung on the wall. The three hallmarks on the back attest that it is not a mass-produced item: the wood is numbered twice and the hanging mechanism once.
Condition: The calendar is used but in very good condition. All necessary documents are included. There is, of course, slight discoloration due to use.
Monthly cards: in very good condition.
Daily cards: in very good condition.
Numbered cards: in good condition, some with slight discoloration on the edges. This discoloration is discreet and barely noticeable.
Dimensions:
Height: 20.2 cm
Width: 13.2 cm
Depth: 2.2 cm
