Pair Of Antique Embroidered Women's Slippers – Blue Velvet – Circa 1880–1900

A beautiful and rare pair of antique women’s slippers dating from the late 19th century. These elegant shoes are made of deep blue velvet and richly hand-embroidered with gold and cream threads.

The upper features an abundant design of flowers, leaves, and scroll motifs. Several decorative bands adorned with stylized leafy branches extend down the sides. The slippers have a particularly narrow and elegant shape, leather insoles and outsoles, and small leather heels.

The shape and embroidery reveal distinct Orientalist and Ottoman influences. These shoes may have been manufactured in Europe—possibly in France—for the then-popular market for exotic-inspired fashion.

The interior bears an oval stamp from the manufacturer or retailer, which is now very faint. Only the beginning of the name, “Guil…,” remains legible. A second oval stamp bearing the initials “P.C.” is also present. Due to wear, the full name and exact origin unfortunately can no longer be determined with certainty.

The pair is in good vintage condition, with normal signs of use, scuffing, and some discoloration consistent with its age. Please examine the detailed photographs carefully, as they are an integral part of the description.

Dimensions:

Length: 24 cm
Maximum width: 6.8 cm

Due to their exceptionally narrow historical shape, these shoes are offered as collector’s items and decorative pieces rather than as footwear to be worn.
