A splendid oil painting on canvas depicting a stormy seascape scene, by the French painter Jean Michel Diebolt (1779-1825c.), an artist known for his depictions of marine and animal subjects. Diebolt trained under Joseph-Benoît Suvée and Jean-Louis Demarne, two masters who influenced his artistic sensibility and his ability to vividly render scenes of everyday life and animated landscapes.
