Georg Jensen – Jardinière / Centerpiece Bowl #636, Pyramid Pattern, Sterling Silver, Copenhagen 1933–1944Design: Harald Nielsen 1928 · Pyramid Collection · Documented in Georg Jensen Catalogue · Silver 925

A jardinière / centerpiece bowl in sterling silver 925, model #636, Pyramid pattern, designed by Harald Nielsen in 1928 and executed by the Georg Jensen Silberschmiede in Copenhagen between 1933 and 1944. The oval bowl with smooth, taut walls rests on a circular stepped foot — the characteristic Pyramid motif — and is flanked by two lateral scroll handles with spherical finials, of absolute Art Déco elegance. Height 10.6 cm · Width 40.2 cm · Depth 20.5 cm · Weight 1,305 g. Square Georg Jensen hallmark 1933–1944 on base.

Piece documented in the official Georg Jensen catalogue: model #636 appears on page 74 of the house catalogue, numbered 636 and referenced F-534 — primary documentation of origin.

The Pyramid collection — designed by Harald Nielsen in 1928 — is one of the most celebrated Art Déco creations of Georg Jensen. Nielsen drew inspiration from the treasures of Tutankhamun's tomb, discovered in 1922, to develop this rigorous geometric vocabulary. The stepped foot and the characteristic sphere of the collection are immediately recognisable and have earned the Pyramid series a permanent place in museum collections worldwide.

Harald Nielsen (1892–1977) was one of the most prolific designers of the Jensen Silberschmiede, brother-in-law of the founder and artistic director of the house for several decades. Pieces from the Pyramid collection are held in the collections of the Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen, MoMA in New York and Koldinghus in Denmark.
