Georg Jensen Silver Cheese Board, Pyramid Pattern Hn. #600, Copenhagen 1933-44

Artist: Harald Nielsen, Georg Jensen

Georg Jensen – Sterling Silver Cheese Board, Pyramid Collection Design: Harald Nielsen · Copenhagen 1933–1944 · Sterling silver 925 with oak insert

A sterling silver cheese board from Georg Jensen's Pyramid collection, with oak insert, bearing the square Copenhagen hallmark of the 1933–1944 period. An exceptionally rare piece within the Jensen Hollowware range — no comparable example is currently recorded on the international market.

The Pyramid pattern, designed by Harald Nielsen in 1927, was inspired by a fascination with ancient Egyptian forms and symbolism following the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. The stepped pyramid finial topped with a small ball is a defining expression of Nielsen's contribution to the highly stylized and geometric Art Deco idiom. Georg Jensen

Harald Nielsen joined Georg Jensen as an apprentice in 1909 and spent more than half a century at the silversmithy. His sister Johanne married Georg Jensen, making him the founder's brother-in-law. After Jensen's death in 1935, Nielsen dedicated his life to carrying on the master's work. The Pyramid collection remains one of the most sought-after sterling silver patterns of the 20th century.

This cheese board is the ideal complement for any collector who owns the Pyramid flatware service — and represents a singular opportunity to add an exceptionally rare serving piece to an existing set.
