Important Champagne Or Wine Cooler By Peter Bruckmann & Söhne, Heilbronn, Circa 1900
Monumental champagne or wine cooler by Peter Bruckmann & Söhne, Heilbronn, circa 1900. Crafted in 800 silver, gilt interior, retaining its original brass liner.
The design follows a clearly structured, architectural composition: a smooth, slightly tapering upper body above a wide, richly modelled relief frieze with floral and vegetal ornament. Encircling beaded borders articulate the different zones with precision.
The movable ring handles, set in sculptural mounts, display a strong, closed form and reflect Nordic and Celtic-inspired motifs, characteristic of the Arts and Crafts influence around 1900.
Resting on four feet modelled as grape clusters, the piece combines functional purpose with a pronounced ceremonial presence.
Very good original condition, with gilt interior and liner fully preserved.
