Wolfers Frères, founded in Brussels in 1850 and silversmith to the royal court of Belgium, is one of the most prestigious silversmithing houses in Europe. The Krischer house in Düsseldorf was one of the principal German retailers of Wolfers Frères production, whose seller's mark appears consistently on pieces of the period.
Works by Wolfers Frères are held in the collections of the Musées Royaux d'Art et d'Histoire in Brussels — within the reconstructed interior of the Wolfers Frères boutique designed by Victor Horta (1909–1912) — as well as the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
