Teapot from the Orangerie tea service, designed by Siegmund Schütz in 1954 for the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin. Removable metal handle. This piece was produced at the Selb facility in 1954 — the sole year of production at that site before its closure in August 1954 and the transfer of manufacturing back to Berlin. It is therefore an example from the very first production run, in immaculate original condition.

Siegmund Schütz served for decades as the only full-time chief modeller at KPM Berlin, working in close collaboration with Trude Petri, whose shared legacy is documented in the standard scholarly literature. The Orangerie service, with its clarity of form and refined proportions, stands as one of the finest expressions of German Mid Century Modern design — restrained, functional and timeless.
