Silver Figurine, "Boy with Hobby Horse", Silver 925, Germany circa 1950 German Silberplastik · 1950s · Silver 925 · Hammered · Handmade · German Hallmarks
A small solid silver 925 sculpture depicting a slender young boy wearing a paper hat (Papierhut) and holding a stylised hobby horse (Steckenpferd) — a popular motif in post-war German silver sculpture, evoking childhood innocence and play. Entirely hand-hammered surface (martelé), finely modelled face, inset eyes. Base: openwork spoke disc. Height 7.5 cm · weight 37 g.
The combined technique of casting and hand-finishing, together with the characteristic hammered surface, is representative of the finest German silversmithing craft of the 1950s — a period of creative renaissance in German Silberplastik after 1945, marked by a return to poetic forms and childhood subjects.
