Kpm Berlin Porcelain: Reclining Gazelle, Emil Rutte, 1921

Artist: Emil Rutte

Rare Art Deco porcelain figure “Reclining Gazelle”, model no. 11525, designed by Emil Rutte in 1921 and produced by the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM Berlin) in 1922.

The reclining gazelle is modelled with its forelegs drawn beneath the body. Its elongated silhouette, upright neck and restrained modelling reflect the transition from late Art Nouveau towards the clear, stylised forms of early Art Deco. Signed “RUTTE” on the base.
