Artist: Ferdinand Hercik

This large allegorical painting with artistic figures as symbols of the arts, arranged by the Karlov Bridge in Praque. This monumental painting created in 1901 by the famous Czech artist Ferdinand Hercik (1861 Trebon - 1923 Praque). He studied at the Académie d'Art de la Praque by M.Pirner, V.Brozik and V. Hynais and later in Paris. Since 1905 - Professor in Brno. Personal exhibition in Brno in 1922. It is known that he decorated the Museum of Applied Arts in the Praque with large allegorical panels. We have received the letter from this museum (signed by the expert Mr. Petr Stembera) with the confirmation that our monumental work is a large study for one of its 6 huge paintings of the staircase of this museum, made in 1901-1904/1905with the original title "Graphics / Graphic Art /".
