Very Large Kilim, Anatolia, 2nd Half XIXth Cty
Artist: Anatolie (sud De La Turquie)
Stunning very large kilim from Anatolia (Southern Turkey), 2nd part of the XIXth century
Sizes 460cm by 160cm
Thnks to check my others auctions pages for similar kilims from same period and origin.
These large and strong carpets have always very nice colours and geometric patterns, which could be used with contemporary furniture as well as high-end furniture.
Made by nomades tribes whose looms were narrow foreasy transport, they are always made in 2 parts then knotted between them when they are used as carpets. They can also be used to insulate homes or as doors, and in this case, they are not or not fully together.
Vegetable or mineral colors here very well preserved (often very fragile, especially cause hot water!)
Very good condition, to report a small hole and a minor missed part on the border (around 5 by 4cm), defects visible on the last photo
