Gilded Bronze Thai Buddha Statue
Thai gilded bronze Buddha statue.
The statue is crafted in the Sukhothai style—or classical Thai style—and shows traces of gilding.
It depicts a seated Buddha with a pointed *ushnisha* (a flame-shaped protrusion on the crown of the head), curly hair, a serene expression, and a traditional meditative posture known as the “touching the earth” gesture (*bhumisparsha mudra*).
The work is made of cast metal or bronze in dark tones, marked by wear and an antique patina; traces of gold leaf or gilding are still visible on its surface.
It follows the tradition of classical Thai Buddhist sculpture (such as that of the Sukhothai or Rattanakosin periods).
Height: 35 cm, weight: 5 kg.
