Hunting Dog Dessert Plate - Jean Bertholle For Gien, Rambouillet Model
A rare and very beautiful dessert dish with handles, made of Gien earthenware, “Rambouillet” model, designed by Jean Bertholle in the 1950s.
The design centers on a prominent hunting dog’s head, surrounded by various hunting motifs: a riding crop, stirrups, a riding helmet, a hunting horn, and hunting accessories, set amid the foliage characteristic of the model.
This piece, which is rarer than the plates and serving dishes of this model, bears the Gien Manufactory mark and the inscription “hand-decorated” on the reverse.
