Large Coffee Pot With A Duck Design - Rambouillet Model, By Jean Bertholle For Gien
Large lidded coffee pot made of Gien earthenware, “Rambouillet” model, designed by Jean Bertholle in the 1950s.
The design depicts a mallard in flight among the reeds, rendered in the model’s characteristic color palette, blending greens, browns, yellows, and blues against a finely hatched background.
The handle, as well as the lid knob, are molded and painted in brown tones imitating wood.
The piece bears the mark of the Manufacture de Gien on the underside of the base, accompanied by the inscriptions “decor guaranteed to be fade-resistant,” “fired at 1150°” and “hand-painted.”
Very good overall condition.
For the sake of accuracy, it should be noted that there is a small, old imperfection around the rim of the base, which is not visible when the coffee pot is displayed (see photograph)
