Partridge-shaped Terrine - Rambouillet Model, By Jean Bertholle For Gien
A rare and superb lidded terrine made of Gien earthenware, “Rambouillet” model, designed by Jean Bertholle in the 1950s.
This highly sought-after piece takes the naturalistic form of a partridge, with finely modeled plumage painted in a rich palette of browns, beiges, and grays. The lid fits perfectly over the bird’s back and blends seamlessly with the plumage design.
The terrine rests on a green base and bears the Gien Manufactory mark on the underside of the base.
In good overall condition.
Note a small chipunder the beak, visible in the photographs.
