Gold, Silver, And Diamond Crescent Moon Brooch - French Craftsmanship, Late 19th Century

A very beautiful brooch in the shape of a crescent moon, crafted in 18-karat yellow gold and silver, set with old-cut diamonds arranged in a cascade, surrounded by small rose-cut diamonds.

This is an elegant piece of French craftsmanship dating from around 1880–1890. The body bears the French eagle-head hallmark for 18-karat gold, and the piece is numbered 6612.

The piece is convertible: the brooch mechanism can be removed by unscrewing it, and the setting has another screw thread on the reverse side, allowing it to be worn as a hairpin as well. It is equipped with a safety chain.

Gross weight: 11 g
Condition: Very good overall condition, with a few tiny deformities visible on the back of the setting and some scratches on certain stones, consistent with the piece’s age.
