"artichaut" Silver-plated Metal Set - Maison Odiot, Paris

A rare and important set in silver-plated metal by the Odiot company in Paris, entirely designed around the artichoke motif.

It includes a large lidded soup tureen and six small lidded bowls, each shaped like a stylized artichoke. Deeply veined leaves define the bodies and lids, while the handles take the form of small, finely chiseled artichoke buds. The large central piece is embellished with two leaf-adorned side handles.

This design is based on one of the Odiot company’s iconic models. The company still preserves an “Artichaut” vegetable dish whose design dates back to 1840 and which was part of a major service delivered to the Belgian royal family.

Each piece is marked “ODIOT A PARIS” and bears the company’s hallmark.
