Cat With Mandolin - Vienna Bronze, Late 19th Century, Bergmann

Artist: Atelier Bergmann - Cachet Amphore « B »
Charming little bronze from Vienna representing a standing cat, playing the mandolin in a playful and lively posture.

A rare and amusing detail: the movable head of this cat allows its gaze to be oriented according to the angle of exposure, reinforcing the expressive character.

This bronze bears the Bergmann stamp (amphora B) on the body and on the weight of the head, as well as the inscription Berg Austria on the tail, guaranteeing its authenticity and its belonging to the famous Viennese production of the Atelier of Franz Xaver Bergmann, renowned for its small polychrome animal bronzes at the turn of the 20th century.

The original polychromy shows some wear, authentic witnesses of the passage of time, giving the whole the charm specific to antique bronzes.
