Maison Ilias Lalaounis, founded in Athens in 1969, is famous for its jewelry inspired by ancient civilizations, notably Mycenaean and Byzantine Greece. Combining high-grade gold and traditional know-how, Lalaounis has restored the nobility of Hellenic goldsmithing. He was one of the few jewelers to be recognized by the Academy of Fine Arts of the Institut de France, and in 1994 founded in Athens the only museum in the world dedicated to the art of jewelry designed by a living designer.
