Micromosaic Representing A Seated Dog – Late 18th Century

Fine micromosaic from the end of the 18th century depicting a dog sitting against a landscape background, in a calm and attentive attitude.

Made in Rome at the end of the 18th century, these pieces were highly sought after by art lovers traveling on the Grand Tour.
The remarkable quality of this piece lies in the extreme finesse of its tesserae, carefully assembled to accurately reproduce the nuances and expression of the animal, in the manner of Giacomo Raffaelli, pioneer of this delicate art.

It is preserved in very good condition in a wooden frame.

Italian work from the end of the 18th century.
