Brooch That Can Be Converted Into A Hair Ornament, Diamond Bow - Maison Noury, Circa 1890–1900

A stunning convertible brooch featuring a large ribbon bow, crafted in platinum and 18-karat yellow gold and entirely set with diamonds.

The design, with a very airy feel, consists of long ribbons forming loops and knotted sections. The openwork of the setting lends the piece a sense of lightness despite its substantial size.

The brooch retains its mechanism for transforming it into a hair ornament, along with its mounting accessories: an 18-karat gold brooch clasp and safety chain, a metal pin, and a small screwdriver.

It is presented in its original case, monogrammed “B. Noury, Fabricant, 64 rue Greneta, Paris”.

The Noury House was one of the Parisian jewelry houses active in the second half of the 19th century. Awarded a prize at the 1878 Paris World’s Fair, it is also linked to the history of the future Maison Mauboussin, as Georges Mauboussin was trained by his uncle Jean-Baptiste Noury before taking over management of the workshops.
