Antique Bronze Dagger With Green Patina
Accurately identifying this ancient bronze dagger with a green patina is beyond my expertise, so I will simply describe it.
The green patina is attractive, and I have not noticed the coarse casting marks typically found on later pieces. The entire weapon is made from a single piece.
BLADE = it is double-edged, and each side features two wide fullers that flank a central ridge.
Blade length: 18.5 cm; width at the shoulder: 3.5 cm;thickness at the shoulder : 3.4 mm
GUARD: It is rounded and decorated with geometric designs
HILT :It is rectangular, divided into two smaller rectangles, and ends in a large, rounded pommel pierced by an oval hole. The decorative designs are difficult to describe. Perhaps stylized plants?
Ref 4Y-1878 Shipping costs: France €20, Europe €30
