Italian Dagger, Italy 18th Century
This dagger is typically Italian, probably originating from the Genoa region. It can be dated to the 18th century.
BLADE : It is a solid blade, which, after a baluster-shaped blunt section, takes on the typical double-edged profile of these daggers. It has a six-sided cross-section.
Blade length = 17.5 cm, width at the ricasso 2.6 cm, thickness at the ricasso = 6 mm.
HILT : It is made of dark wood and has numerous flutes. It terminates on the blade side with an iron ferrule and on the opposite side with a small, flat iron pommel, onto which the tang of the blade is riveted and flush.
There are a few very minor chips in the wood of the handle, which are not very noticeable.
A beautiful object with its patina.
