Balkan Yataga- Cutlass 19th

This cutlass is certainly of Balkan origin, probably Serbian. It can be dated to the 19th century. Its size and robust appearance are likely related to its use in hunting. The shape of the blade is reminiscent of the yataghans and bichaks of the Turkey-Balkans region. The handle's attachment with three rivets passing through the tang is quite characteristic of traditional Serbian cutlery.
The brass nails and bone inlays correspond to the Balkan style, although they do not include the characteristic Bosnian motifs from the Sarajevo region, for example.
The weapon is well-balanced and hangs comfortably in the hand.
BLADE: It is a solid, though thin, blade. It is a single-edged blade that begins with a concave section, typical of yatagans and yatagan daggers.
Blade length = 23 cm, width near the handle 3 cm, thickness near the handle = 3 mm.
GRIP The handlebegins by a  a steel part that joins the blade, protecting the fingers. The handle itself consists of two dark wood plates riveted to the tang of the blade and decorated with brass nails and bone inlays.
A rare weapon on the market, offered at a modest price.
