Model Of A Bombard On A Carriage, 15th Century
This model cannon depicts a wheeled bombard from the mid-15th century. It comes from Spain and dates from the 20th century.
The cannon itself is made of metal, probably a type of spelter (?) with an old bronze green patina. It can pivot vertically to vary the firing angle.
The wooden carriage, with some iron parts, has an iron box that can be opened, containing a wooden wedge for adjusting the cannon's angle. The wooden wheels are reinforced with iron and turn freely. Several small chains complete the model, along with a small identification plate that reads "BOMBARDA CON FURGON ANO 1450" (Bombard with Furgan, Year 1450).
This charming piece would be a perfect addition to the display case of an enthusiast of armies from this period at the very end of the Middle Ages.
