BLADE: with two edges, and six faces, which therefore give a flattened hexagonal section. Beautiful traces of hammering and longitudinal sharpening with a stone.
Blade length = 79 cm, width near the guard 3.8 cm, thickness near the guard 5 mm.
MOUNT: it is the classic cross guard made of a sheet of iron covered with leather, then the cylindrical grip covered with leather, and the flattened pommel made of iron sheet , topped with a chiseled iron diamond, then a square washer in chiseled brass, and finally a smaller iron washer on which the tang of the blade is riveted.
SCABBARD: it is made of leather, in very good condition. Rich geometric decoration, and near the mouth of the scabbard, tinned iron bracelet cut with geometric holes that reveal the green and red leather background, typically regional. Tinned iron chape, with geometric cutouts. The blade fits completely into the scabbard without forcing, which is not often the case.
It is therefore in conclusion a beautiful ethnic object, very different from tourist productions. The quality of the blade and the antiquity are superior to the majority of takuba swords that are usually found.
